The Madovar Process
Custom packaging done right doesn't happen by accident. It happens through a process that's been refined over 15 years of producing luxury rigid boxes for corporations, consumer brands, and manufacturers across North America. Here's exactly what working with Madovar looks like from start to finish.
-
Every project starts with a conversation. You tell us about your product, your brand, your timeline, and your volume. We ask the right questions. Box style, dimensions, finishes, insert requirements, branding specifications. If you don't have all the answers yet, that's fine. Part of our job is helping you get there. We work with clients at every stage of the process, from early concept to final spec. Meetings can be held in person at our Montréal facility or remotely by video call.
-
Once the brief is defined, our team produces a structural design and CAD die-cut file. Every dimension is specified: length, width, depth, wall thickness, closure type, and insert configuration. This is where the engineering happens. Rigid box production requires precision. A fraction of a millimeter determines whether a lid closes cleanly or a product sits loose inside the box. We get this right before anything is cut.
-
We work with you to select the papers, boards, and finishing techniques that best represent your brand. Options include soft-touch lamination, gloss and matte lamination, foil stamping in gold and silver, spot UV coating, embossing, debossing, and specialty substrates. Color matching to your brand standards is handled at this stage. Every material we source comes from reputable, sustainable mills.
-
Before any full production run begins, we produce physical samples for your review. You check the fit, the finish, the structural integrity, and the opening sequence. If something needs adjusting, we adjust it. Multiple sample rounds are available. Nothing moves to production without your approval.
-
Full production runs at your required volume, handled entirely at our facility in Montréal, Canada. Cutting, assembly, wrapping, and quality control are all done in-house. Typical lead time from approved sample to finished product is 4 to 6 weeks depending on volume and complexity. Rush timelines can be accommodated.
-
Completed orders ship throughout Canada and the United States. Madovar is incorporated in both countries, and our products are duty-free when imported into the United States under the USMCA trade agreement. Expedited shipping is available when your timeline requires it.
