Today’s interviewee is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and the founder of Global Glow by JK, a lifestyle brand offering a fresh and inspiring new way of embracing health and wellness. We had the great opportunity to work with Julie Katerine on developing bespoke packaging for her gift boxes, which showcase her top-of-the-line wellness products that can be found at www.globalglow.com in JKs SHOP. A couple of weeks ago, we sat down with her and her associate to discuss the importance of building your brand while remaining authentic in amidst the ever growing online frenzy.
Q: Tell us a bit about Global Glow and how this whole journey began!
A: Health and Wellness has always been a passion of mine. That being said, what actually gave rise to the creation of Global Glow was a personal life experience. At age 31, despite being healthy for all of my life, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease that put my body in a constant inflammatory state, suffering from chronic fatigue and joint pain. My doctors prescribed an intensely rigorous weekly regimen of meds and the concern of having to spend the rest of my life being heavily medicated, along with the long list of side effects that came with it, left me overwhelmed with fear and worry.
I really needed to reverse this situation and that's exactly what I did. I started looking for alternative ways to fight tiredness, pain and inflammation. I started focusing on finding the root cause of the problem. Through this whole process, I came to realize that by changing my mind-set and by adopting a healthier, more balanced lifestyle, I could positively and significantly impact my disease. As I began to feel better, I started to see a light at the end of the tunnel and eventually I stopped all medications. This is when I decided that it was time for me to share the knowledge I had acquired with the world! I became a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and shortly after, Global Glow was born.
Q: Do you think that nowadays people take more prescription medications than ever before?
A: Unfortunately, yes. It seems like there is a pill for everything and it's so easy for people to get caught up in the vicious circle. Doctors prescribe meds and people take them, no questions asked. The thing is many people don't reap the full benefits of the meds because of the numerous negative side-effects that come from taking them. Meds can make them sluggish, giving them stomach pains, as well as bouts of anxiety or depression. Unfortunately, in order to mitigate all of this, more pills need to be taken and the vicious circle never ends! That being said, I am not undermining prescription medication in any way, shape or form. What I question are the additional meds people find themselves taking. Are they really necessary or can a lifestyle change help eliminate their usage? After testing this hypothesis on myself, I can proudly say that I've been med-free for 7 years and have never felt better! 
Q: So, what exactly are the services that you offer?
A: First and foremost, we offer one-on-one Health Coaching Consultations. As a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I guide and support my clients with their personal health challenges and help them implement a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. The idea is to identify the root cause of their struggles and work from there. I work with my clients and help them develop short term and long term strategies to help overcome their health challenges. My work is catered specifically to their needs.
The second pillar of my business is focused on bringing my favorite wellness products to the Canadian market, those which I swear by and trust that others will feel the same way. My goal is for JKs SHOP to become a one-stop-shop for all Wellness products for Canadians. Lastly, Global Glow’s third pillar is based on education. I founded Global Glow because I want to help educate people by giving them concrete tools in JKs JOURNAL, enabling them to live their life to the fullest.
Q: Have you seen any trends in the Health & Wellness industry that you don’t like?
A: Personally, I think it's all about balance, which is why I'm against hard-core detox regimes. A good example of this are intense Juice cleanses. By juicing for 2 weeks straight, you are actually putting your gut in a dormant state. So even though you are eliminating toxins during the 2 week detox, the moment you start eating actual food again, your body will be in shock and you risk gaining back more weight than you lost.
Q: How did you hear about Madovar?
A: I asked a friend of mine working in retail and she immediately recommended your packaging. I checked out your website and instantly fell in love with your products!
Q: How are you going to use our packaging?
A: We are continuously expanding our brand in the Canadian market. Creating PR and Hype Boxes is a significant stepping stone in our marketing plan. We wanted to deliver beautiful packaging and amazing unboxing experiences to the recipients of the exclusive Golden Global Glow Gift Boxes. Basically, the boxes were created for influencers that are going to help spread the Global Glow love via social media. The influencers need to understand our brand’s concept and vibe. That’s why it was so crucial for the Madovar Boxes to truly represent what Global Glow is all about. Thanks to Madovar, we have developed PR Boxes that are literally next level!
Q:How was your collaboration with Madovar?
A: The collaboration was amazing and I felt that we truly met in the middle. Bilal was super helpful and fast; we worked together right away and came up with the final design easily and flawlessly.
