Lid & Base Boxes

A classic two-piece box with a slow, luxurious reveal.

A separate lid lifts off a matching base, the classic telescoping construction. The lid can cover the full depth of the base, or stop part way to show a band of the base in a contrasting colour. It is our widest size range, from small accessory boxes to large-format presentation boxes.

How it's built

  • Two-piece rigid construction: lid and base
  • Full-depth or partial-depth (shoulder) lid
  • Lid and base can be wrapped in different papers
  • Fitted insert in foam, board or molded pulp
  • Optional paper pull tab or thumb notch
  • Works with tissue, cards and layered contents

Finishes that suit this style

Specialty textured papers suit this style well, often with a debossed or foil-stamped logo on the lid. Full-coverage printing works across lid and base. See all finishes & techniques.

Questions

What is the difference between full-depth and partial-depth lids?

A full-depth lid covers the whole base. A partial-depth lid stops part way, so a band of the base shows. That band can be a contrasting colour.

How large can you make a lid & base box?

Up to 29" on the longest side. Large boxes are quoted per project, since board and shipping change with size.

What is the minimum order?

50 units per design. Larger programs are quoted per project.

How long does it take?

About 1 week for sampling, then 3 to 5 weeks of production for runs under 500 units. Larger runs, and orders we pack and ship for you, are scheduled with you at the start. Rush timelines can be accommodated.
